Most of our products originate from CALABRIA, or as it was known in ancient times MAGNA GRECIA. This is the southern most part of Italy, which stretches from the Mountains of the Pollino National Park to the tip of the ‘toe’ Reggio Calabria, inhabited by an ancient and laborious people the ‘Calabrese’.
Flanked by two coasts, the Terrhenian Sea to the left & the Ionian to the right, with the Mountains in the middle, which meet crystal clear blue waters. Its unique position in the Mediterranean Sea gives the region a microclimate that is ideal for growing pure and natural sun-ripened Fruits and Vegetables, which are hearty & very flavoursome. Livestock thrives in the lush higher regions of the Pollino, Sila Grande, Sila Piccola & the Aspromonte mountains, which the Calabrese have tended to and farmed for centuries. In the centre of the region is the ‘Valle Crati’, where some of natures finest Olives are grown. This region is a delight for food lovers to explore! There are many local delights for the taste buds and one that is a must for any visitor to savour is the D’uja! A very flavoursome soft Salami typical to this region and is great on bruschetta!
This region boasts many delights, and perhaps one of the most prised and precious is the many different varieties of fungi that grow wild in the Sila Grande & Sila Piccola Mountains.
Our Company has taken great care to choose these products personally, for you to savour.
